The Ex05-Ex06 is designed for underpinning knowledge and practical assessment of electrical personnel who undertake the physical installation and assembly of new ‘Ex’ equipment and, who perform preventive maintenance and inspections on previously installed equipment in dust potentially explosive atmospheres. The Ex05-Ex06 modules are presented by a lecturer with over 25 years’ practical experience in this field including 10 years teaching CompEx courses and participating in CompEx working groups

- General principles, sources of ignition and apparatus protection for dust environments
- Standards, Certification and marking including ATEX directives ATEX95, ATEX137, DSEARS ATEX categories 1, 2 & 3 and EPL’s Da, Db & Dc
- Protection Concepts for dust
- Area Classification for dust atmospheres IIIA, IIIB and IIIC
- Combined (hybrid) methods of protection
- Wiring systems, enclosure entries, cable glanding and earthing to BS 60079-14
- Inspection and maintenance to BS EN 60079-17
- Practical examples, dust chamber testing.
- Written exams and practical assessment
The ExVeritas Ex05-Ex06 Course includes updates and advice on the latest 2014 editions of EN/IEC 60079-14 and 17 and IECEx Equipment Schemes.
CompEx Dust Ex05-Ex06 Certification
CompEx National Certificate of Core Competence valid for 5-years.
Candidates are required to supply their own PPE, i.e. coveralls, safety glasses and safety footwear. Also required is evidence of vocational qualifications as detailed in the awarding body (JTL) document JTL925. Appropriate electrical or instrumentation qualifications include proof of having completed a recognized apprenticeship, level 3 S/NVQ or equivalent.

Wrexham, UK: 31st January – 2nd February, 4th – 6th April, 27th – 29th June, 22nd – 24th August, 28th – 30th November.
This is a 3-day course running from 09:00 to 16:30 Course duration and times may vary depending on delegate numbers. Individual delegate finishing time will depend on the length of time taken for assessment.
Course Costs & Booking
The CompEx Ex05 & Ex06 Course is a full 3-day course with lunch and refreshments provided, it costs £700 GBP* + VAT per delegate and can be booked on credit card or via a company purchase order.
*From 1st April 2019, Compex have introduced the CompEx ID card as mandatory for Modules Ex01-Ex06, Ex11, Ex12, Ex14. In line with CompEx fee terms £25.00 is charged in addition to the course cost for the CompEx ID Card.
