CompEx Certificate of Competence
The Ex01-Ex04 CompEx Inspection & Installation Course is designed for underpinning knowledge and practical assessment of electrical personnel who undertake the physical installation and assembly of new ‘Ex’ equipment and, who perform preventive maintenance and inspections on previously installed equipment.
If you are new to industrial installation and want a primer course we offer CompEx Foundation Plus to train and assist people prior to attending this intensive course.
The CompEx Ex01-Ex04 Certificate of Core Competence is based on practical assessment and a written theory exam taken over 2 days. It is preceded with an intensive 3 day course with practical demonstrations and hands on-training. As ExVeritas are also an ATEX Notified Body, we have 250 years Ex experience within our company including specialist instructors in many areas such as area classification or intrinsic safety, this means we can answer all of your questions, all of the time.
Ex01-Ex04 CompEx Inspection & Installation modules are presented by a lecturer with over 20 years’ practical experience in this field including 10 years teaching CompEx courses and participating in CompEx working groups. The ExVeritas Ex01-Ex04 Course includes updates and advice on the latest 2014 editions of EN/IEC 60079-14 and 17 and IECEx Equipment Schemes.
CompEx Inspection & Installation Course Certification
CompEx National Certificate of Core Competence valid for 5-years.
The Refresher Course must be attended prior to the expiry date of the new certificate to ensure continuity of the certification and issue of a new 5-year certificate.
Candidates are required to supply their own PPE, i.e. coveralls, safety glasses and safety footwear. Also required is evidence of vocational qualifications as detailed in the awarding body (JTL) document JTL925. Appropriate electrical or instrumentation qualifications include proof of having completed a recognized apprenticeship, level 3 S/NVQ or equivalent.

09:00 to 16:30 Course duration and times may vary depending on delegate numbers. Individual delegate finishing time will depend on the length of time taken for assessment.
Course Cost & Booking
The CompEx Ex01 – Ex04 Course is a full 5 day course, cost £975 GBP* + VAT per delegate including lunch and refreshments and can be booked on credit card or via a company purchase order.
*From 1st April 2019, Compex have introduced the CompEx ID card as mandatory for Modules Ex01-Ex06, Ex11, Ex12, Ex14. In line with CompEx fee terms £25.00 is charged in addition to the course cost for the CompEx ID Card.

We are practitioners in Explosive Atmospheres installation, inspection and certification. We are an ATEX Notified Body and an IECEx Certification Body- We have well over 200 years experience in this field at our training centre and our four specialist CompEx instructors (we don’t bring in outside contractors to teach our courses, we only use our own staff who are industry experts and active practitioners with over 20 years experience each).
