EMC Testing

EMC Testing Services

UKAS accredited EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) testing and advisory services. Operating under ISO/EN 17025, delivering high-quality, internationally recognized testing for a wide range of regulatory and industry standards.

Accreditations
  • UKAS Accredited to ISO/EN 17025
  • Full CE Marking compliance.
  • FCC listed for CFR 47 Parts 15 & 18 testing (U.S. regulatory compliance)
  • VCA “e” Marking – approved for testing under the EU Automotive Directive 95/54/EEC (Automotive ESA devices).

Emissions testing capabilities covering a wide frequency range from 20 Hz to 40 GHz, allowing to conduct a variety of specific tests. These include conducted emissions testing from 20 Hz to 400 MHz, magnetic field emissions from 20 Hz to 30 MHz, and electric field emissions from 1 kHz to 40 GHz.

As well steady-state and transitory mains supply harmonics testing in accordance with EN61000-3-2, flicker and inrush current measurements as per EN61000-3-3, among others. Immunity testing for commercial, medical & industrial systems. Immunity (Susceptibility) includes a range of tests:

  • Electrostatic Discharge (EN61000-4-2)
  • Radiated Immunity (EN61000-4-3)
  • Fast Transients (EN61000-4-4)
  • Surges (EN61000-4-5).
  • Conducted Immunity (EN61000-4-6)
  • Magnetic Immunity (EN61000-4-8)
  • Pulsed magnetic Immunity (EN61000-4-9)
  • Voltage dips/interruptions (EN61000-4-11)
  • Voltage fluctuations (EN61000-4-14)
  • DC ripple Test (EN61000-4-17)
  • Frequency Variations Test (EN61000-4-28)
  • DC Dips Interruptions & Variations Test (EN61000-4-29)

Additional Testing Services include;

  • · Pre-compliance and Advisory Testing (Project Stage)
  • · Railway Testing
  • · EMF and EMC Site Surveys
  • · On-Site (EMC Mobile Unit to carry out testing at customer sites and Installations, this can be on ATEX/IECEX rigs, skids and mobile units)
Combine ‘Ex’ and EMC’ to save time and money.

There are many advantages in combining EMC and Ex Certification in one project, especially with concepts such as Intrinsic Safety where levels of capacitance (often used for decoupling) and Inductors (often used as filters) can change through the the product design. Integrated EMC assessment and pre-scans together with final conformation scans in our UKAS 17025 accredited laboratory can ensure EMC compliance is delivered ‘in parallel’ with all Ex Approvals.

This can include ATEX (requiring CE) and NEC500/505 (FCC). Combining EX and EMC will get you to market faster and save time and money.
