Sean Clarke
Sean is a Chartered Engineer with an MSc in Project Management and is currently engaged
in a PhD in Explosion Protection.
Sean started his Engineering career in the Air Force as a Flight Systems Engineer.
Following his service he joined a Notified Body as an Project Engineer, eventually
leaving as a Section Manager to set up an ATEX Notified Body as a founding partner.
Sean has setup and managed accreditations, development of the site safety and training
business, including COMPEX), technical software and Internet development.
Sean has over 20 years experience with explosive atmosphere certification and associated
safety and has completed 1000’s of projects and training courses globally.
Stephen D’Henin
Stephen has been active in the field of explosion prevention and product approval
for over 25 years.
He has held senior technical positions in several European ATEX notified bodies and
was a founder member in the formation of an ATEX Notified Body. Stephen spent 12
years with the UK's Health and Safety Executive and was involved in fire and explosion
incident investigations. Being active in the development of technical standards for
explosive atmospheres for over 15 years he is well placed to interpret the latest
thinking from the legislators.
Steve is one of the UK’s leading experts in ATEX, Increase safety and large electrical/non
electrical machines.

Having been in this industry for over 25 years, we have made a wide range of professional
contacts, we know who to work with for various types of projects, from International
Notified and Certification Bodies (and the individual engineers within them) to individual
COMPEX qualified Inspectors or Chartered Scientists. Whatever the project, whatever

Sean is married with two children, in his spare time he plays his expanding guitar
collection! To keep fit he plays a racket sports, the odd round of golf and takes
part in a little sailing.
Stephen is a keen sailor and has a Yacht at Conway Marina, when not sailing he surfs,
kite boards and generally stays near the water, even when playing golf!
